The Aquarium of Cala Gonone
The modern structure of the Aquarium of Cala Gonone, is the largest in Sardinia and was founded in 2010. Set in a park surrounded by typical Mediterranean native vegetation, between the unspoiled mountains of Supramonte and the fascinating scenery of the Gulf of Orosei.
The 24 display tanks enable visitors to "dive" from the banks up to the habitats without light of the deep sea, passing across the rocky coast where the waves break and the endlessness of the open sea where the local fauna thrives : jellyfish, yellowtails and large snapper. During this journey the visitors will encounter the adorable longspine snipefish, the incredible mimetic abilities of the cuttlefish, will observe the dark dens of moray eels and many other spectacular and rare specimen that inhabit the Gulf of Orosei.
