The giants tomb of s’Ena and Thomes
The giants tomb of Ena and Thomes is one of the best preserved archeological sites of Sardinia. The height of the central stele (3.65 m) made out of granite and enriched with carved decorations on the sides is truly amazing.
Right after the Stele a small door was placed facing the entrance, which symbolically represented the underworld door leading to the afterlife. Before the stele, formed by semicircular "knife" rocks (that have been stuck in the ground) visitors will find the delimitation of the sacred area where the funeral rites were officiated. Behind the stele, stretched for 11 meters there is the mortuary chamber. This chamber has been build facing south, probably because of the connection with the sunset at the summer solstice and other mystical meanings.
